Meet our 2021 Summer Program Instructors!
Enthusiastic volunteers continue to join us every day, check back often to meet our newest members.
My name is Michael Nelson, and I’m a junior at Lakeside High School. I have taken several honors classes, as well as AP tests in Chinese, Computer Science, Statistics, Biology, Spanish and Calculus. In the past year I have been a ski instructor at Snoqualmie Pass and tutored throughout the school year. Additionally, I have spent three summers volunteer teaching in China. I am crazy about math and science, and can’t wait to share my passion with curious students. When I’m not in school, I love running, playing cards with my family and practicing violin. I love teaching, and I’m super excited to have more opportunities to work with some amazing kids this summer!

Hello, my name is Sheehan Ganguly. I am an incoming Junior at Interlake high school and am extremely excited for this wonderful opportunity to organize and teach this summer camp. Having an annoying, pestering, younger brother at home, has helped me develop leadership and teaching skills throughout the years. From helping him with simple addition, to exponent rules and algebra, I have always tried to come up with creative, but effective ways of ingraining these concepts into him. Hopefully, these skills will allow me to effectively teach your children, while also having a fun time. I am a part of the IB Program at Interlake, which offers rigorous courses in math, sciences, history and English. I have also taken several AP classes throughout high school. In my free time I enjoy sports, music, and outdoor activity (Hiking, camping). I am really looking forward to working with your kids to make the most out of this experience!

Hi guys! My name is Cody Tan and I'm really excited to be a teacher for Afflare Education this year. I've been tutoring students as a part of a club at my school, in addition to independently tutoring kids for about two months now, and am grateful that I have the privilege to teach in a classroom environment. Over this summer, I'm also really excited for a lot of other activities that I aim to start, like getting back into rock climbing, going on hikes, as well as interning for various research projects at UW. This class among many other activities are just a few I aim to challenge myself in.

Hi all! My name is Aaryan Pawar and I am excited to teach Computer Science at Afflare Education. I am a freshman at Interlake HS pursuing the IB diploma. It is my great privilege to have this opportunity to lay the foundation to become future successful software engineers. Ever since elementary school, I have been passionate about Computer Science and studied Python, Java, and Machine Learning in my quest for more knowledge. I am also a trained Black belt of Shotokan karate which is a traditional Japanese karate style. When I’m not indulged in academics, you can find me volunteering as an instructor at the Washington Shotokan Karate Association, since last year. I am also a part of my school’s Robotics club and Science Bowl club and received the Star award at the middle school level. I seek to end this pandemic on a high note teaching amazing and highly motivated students.

As a student at Lake Washington High School, I have completed a year of Honors Chem and the AP Chem course along with tutoring chemistry for six months. As a senior applying for college this fall, I have found that nursing is something that spikes my interest and hope to pursue a career in the medical field. Along with my academic interests, I have studied Bharatanatyam dance for ten years and Piano for five. I love reading comics and watching movies in my free time and hope to do a lot more of that this summer. I'm excited to teach Chemistry, a subject I love very much, to those who are just being introduced to it!
